Removing Active Directory Distribution Groups

Overview

The installation program for Jet Professional 2019 and higher includes the ability to remove or convert any Active Directory Distribution Groups that may have been configured for use in previous versions of Jet Professional.

Distribution Groups should not be used to grant users access to resources.  Any existing A/D Distribution Groups that have been configured - but not used - will be automatically removed from Jet configuration.

Any existing A/D Distribution Groups that are currently being used to assign permissions to multiple individuals can be converted to individual user accounts which will be assigned those same permissions.

Converting/Removing Active Directory Distribution Groups

  1. If, during the installation process, any Active Directory Distribution Groups are found in Jet Reports configuration, you will be informed and given the opportunity to either convert the members of those groups to user accounts or remove the users involved.

Any A/D Dist Groups found will be displayed - along with those A/D users assigned to those groups.  You can select those users for whom you would like accounts created with the same permissions currently assigned to the Distribution Group.  Any user not selected, will be removed from the configuration.

If any empty distribution groups are found, they will be displayed in the grey area on the right, so that you know that they will be removed.
