Error: Timeout Expired

Symptoms

When the deployment and execution process is running in Jet Enterprise it is possible that the Command Timeout is set to a level which is shorter than the amount of time that it takes to transfer and cleanse the data. The error will resemble something like this:

Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

Error during Data Processing for Table: Value Entry at: Business Unit

Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

Stored Procedure: [dbo].[usp_NAVSource_dbo_Value Entry_Clean]

Resolution

The command time should be set to zero for the data source, staging database, and data warehouse databases.

Changing the Command Timeout on the Data Source

To set the command timeout for the data source, navigate to the data source at the bottom of the data tab, right click the data source name (ie: NAV, GP, AX, etc.) and select Edit SQL Provider.

Change the Command Timeout to 0.

If a "Timeout Warning" window appears click "No" to keep the value as 0.

Changing the Command Timeout for the Staging Database

To change the Command Timeout for the staging database, navigate to the staging database (ie: JetNavStage, JetAxStage, JetGpStage, etc.) underneath the Business Unit node on the Data tab. Right click the staging database and select Edit Staging Database.

Change the Command Timeout to 0 and click Ok.

Changing the Command Timeout for the Data Warehouse

To change the Command Timeout for the data warehouse, navigate to the data warehouse (ie: JetNavDwh, JetAxDwh, JetGpDwh, etc.) underneath the Data Warehouse node on the Data tab. Right click the data warehouse and select Edit Data Warehouse.

Change the Command Timeout to 0 and click Ok.
