In addition to providing the ability for report Designers to simulate "Report Viewer" mode, Jet Professional and Jet Essentials 2015 Update 1 are able to simulate Jet Express.
This allows report Designers to test that reports created with Jet Professional will also operate as expected in Jet Express.
From the Jet ribbon in Excel, click on the "Application Settings" button
On the General tab, you'll see that the "Simulation Mode" option is set to "None"
This indicates that Jet Professional is operating in its normal "non-simulating" mode.
By changing this option to "Jet Express"...
and selecting (from the "Express mode data source") a data source of a type compatible with Jet Express:
- Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 or earlier
- Dynamics NAV 2013 and later (Web Services)
- Dynamics GP
you will now be able to use Jet Professional just as if you were using Jet Express...
Only those options that are available within Jet Express will be accessible.
You will notice that the "Data Source Type" button on the Data Source Settings window is disabled while in Jet Express mode.
If you need to change the data source while simulating Jet Express, you can do so from the Application Settings window.
Note: if you do not have an appropriate Dynamics data source [NAV 2009 R2 or earlier, NAV 2013 and later (Web Services), or GP], the Jet Express simulation mode will not be available.
