Jet License Files

This article applies to Jet Reports 2009 through Jet Essentials 2012 R2.

If you are using Jet Essentials 2013 or later, see the article on How to Activate your Jet License .

You can store your Jet License file in any folder to which you have access, by updating the setting for Jet License Path under Jet's Application Settings. If you have received your license by email, you should check the extension to make sure that it is .jlf. Some email programs will change the extension of ASCII files to .txt, which will break Jet Reports.

To request a license file, send your list of designer names to orders@jetreports.com . If you are a Navision user, you should also include your Navision license file in your email.

The designer names must be exactly as they appear in Excel's User name field.  D epending upon your version of Excel, here is where to find the setting for the Excel user name:

Excel 2013:  File | Options

Excel 2010:  File | Options

Excel 2007:  Office Button | Excel Options

Excel 2003:  Tools | Options | General

In order to comply with Microsoft Licensing requirements, the name must be an actual user name. License files cannot be issued for generic names like "Excel User."

If you already have a Jet Reports license and need to update your list of Designer names, you can send the changes you would like, along with your current JLF file to:

In the US: orders.us@jetreports.com .
Outside the US: orders@jetreports.com .

For Navision users, if your Navision license has changed, you will also need a new Jet license. In this case, please include your Navision license file (fin.flf) in the email as well. Your Jet license file has the same name as your Navision license number with a ".JLF" extension.

Non-Navision Jet license files have the Jet Reports license number for a filename. The name should end in U and have a ".JLF" extension.
