When history is enabled for a table Jet Enterprise keeps track of when a certain instance of a table is valid. In previous versions Jet Enterprise would always assume that the first instance of a record had “always” been the valid record – or at least since 1900-01-01, which would be set as the “valid from” date. The advantage of this approach is that a record always has a valid instance no matter how far you back.
When working with slowly changing dimensions, however, it can be more useful to know when the record
was added. To this end, we have added an option in the new release. You can now choose between
1900-01-01 and the time of load as the “valid from” date.
