Jet Reports has designed several Power BI reports to be used with OLAP cubes generated by Jet Enterprise’s standard projects. Microsoft’s Power BI Desktop was used to design them and the data source connection is an import from SQL Server Analysis Services.
You can view this KB article for more guidance on making this type of connection.
You will need to extract the contents of the zipped file. Each pbix file can be opened, but the data source will have to be changed if you want to view and interact with your own data.
To change the data source, you will need to have Power BI Desktop installed on your desktop machine.
From Power BI Desktop:
- Open the desired report
- On the Home ribbon, check on the drop-down menu of Edit Queries
- Select Data Source Settings
- Select Change Source...
- Enter the server and database names for your OLAP database
This section attempts to address the most common issues you may encounter after changing your data source.
Error: “The key didn’t match any rows in the table.”
This error indicates that a selected value in a slicer is not found in your dataset. Check for slicers with values selected and clear the filters on these slicers by clicking on the eraser icon in the upper right-hand corner of the slicer.
Error: The column ‘[Global Dimension 1].[Global Dimension 1 Code].[Global Dimension 1 Code]’ of the table wasn’t found.
If you have modified your Jet Data Manager project significantly from or used a different version of Jet’s standard project, you may run into dimensions or measures that are used in the Power BI report, but do not exist or are named differently. In the example above, '[Global Dimension 1].[Global Dimension 1 Code].[Global Dimension 1 Code]' does not exist in the data source. Modifications can be made to fix this error, but it requires knowledge utilizing Microsoft's Power Query. You can access the query editor from Power BI Desktop. From the Home screen, click on the Edit Queries button (not the drop-down arrow portion). This will bring up the Query Editor window.
